The dog is on the sofa
We can say this plainly because everybody in these neighborhoods already knows it. The dog is allowed on the furniture, or the dog is not allowed on the furniture and gets on it anyway while everyone is out.
What that puts into a sofa is threefold. Hair worked down into the weave, which vacuuming lifts from the surface and leaves in the structure.
